Dear colleague young web-master,

If you need to put on your site something like  EVIVA ESPAÑA  or may be  TRĂIASCĂ ROMÂNIA MARE,  and you do not have such letters on your keyboard, and you do not know how to, hope this short manual may help you.

It is simple, even if you edit your page with the Windows Notepad.

  1. You find the desired letter here.

  2. You see its code right of it.

  3. You present the letter as &#NNN;  (NNN means numbers of the code) in the body of your page.

  4. Profit.

To understand with no doubt, just have a look at this page source, how it is done:

TRĂIASCĂ ROMÂNIA MARE

Thus the codes. Consonants:

For more exotic perversions you can look yourself. You have probably caught the principle.

Is this method boring and annoying? Well, there are alternatives.

  1. To install the desired language encoding(s) on your computer. If you want each and every visitor of your site to see your letters properly, this is not the right way, for some reasons too long to explain.

  2. To ‘Add symbol’ in Microsoft Word (case you have it). You find the wanted symbol, you copy it and paste into your page editor. Notepad might not understand, but the Neocities' internal editor would accept.

  3. To adjust hot keys in the same Word or in some other advanced text editor. E.g. that you type A" and you receive Ä. Copy and paste into your page. This is not for Notepad as well.

  4. To find (in the net, not on paper) a text in the needed language. To copy a ‘non-standard’ letter from the screen into your page.

  5. After all, you can copy-paste any letter just from here. The same as any of 2,3,4, but simpler.

Do not forget to announce in the  <head>  of your edited page:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">  — not Win-1252!

Anyway be careful, always check if your hosting interprets the result correctly.

What about Cyrillic, Greek and so on letters? Perhaps. Some time later.

Now we have only little addition that might be useful too.

Some browsers may not accept the code &#128; for the Euro sign. Better use  &euro;  instead — it must be fine always.

By the way, see the table with such letter codes for some other so called entities:
